Murder, Mystery & Michelin Stars

Foodies and crime fans were treated to a world-first evening of fiction and fine-dining when we hosted our recent Murder, Mystery and Michelin Stars event, inspired by local Sunday Times bestselling author MW Craven's Washington Poe novels.

Guests were wowed with an immersive tasting menu and paired wines, with each course based on scenes from Craven's Cumbrian-based crime series.

Hrishikesh was thrilled when Mike Craven agreed to creating this one-of-a-kind event, "The challenge, of course, was to bring each scene to life as vividly as possible and, with the help of the team, we were able to develop dishes that did just that."

Before each course was served, Craven spoke about the scenes in the books which had influenced the dishes whilst Hrishikesh spoke about the creativity required to bring each of the scenes to life on the plate.

Craven said  "The event at Farlam Hall was one of the most memorable experiences I've ever had.  To have a chef with Hrishikesh's vision, skill and sheer audacity, lifting key scenes from my Cumbrian-set Washington Poe novels and turning them into a succession of playful and downright exquisite dishes was almost beyond belief."

The evening was such a success that we are already planning similar events for the future and Hrishikesh has even gone as far as to ask Mike if he can bring in a chef as one of his characters in future books!
