For the first time in the northwest, we are thrilled to bring Diwali to Cumbria. Immerse yourself in the rich history and vibrant traditions of this colourful festival.
Indulge in a delightful array of traditional Indian cuisine, from a delectable afternoon tea to mouth-watering street food, culminating in a grand, interactive black-tie gala dinner as well as a spectacular firework display.
Join us for an unforgettable celebration of light triumphing over darkness and good prevailing over evil, set amidst the serene and beautiful surroundings of Farlam Hall.
Thursday 31st October
Your experience will start as soon as you arrive as you are welcomed with an exotic spiced Champagne cocktail*, followed by a wondrous array of traditional yet modern sweet and savoury delights for Afternoon Tea.
For the special occasion of Diwali, we have created a dedicated gathering space where guests can participate in the Diya lighting ceremony between 5pm & 6pm before moving to the lounges for cocktails* and canapes, followed by a buffet of classic traditional, regional Indian dishes with a twist of Cumbrian products.
Wines will be available for you to choose from our cellar or we also have a wide choice of non-alcoholic wines, fruit punches & sparkling drinks. The bar will be open late until midnight for you to indulge in a digestif or classic spirits before you retire to your room for a restful nights sleep.
Friday 1st November
Start your day with a choice of traditional South Indian and continental delicacies, served in the Cedar Tree restaurant overlooking the estate's lake and grounds. We invite you to join us for a trip to Talkin Tarn Country Park for a leisurely stroll around the glacial lake and woodland. Here you will be served a hot drink and sweet snack before returning to Farlam Hall for a light buffet lunch.
On the eve of Laxmi Pujan, a fireworks display will take place in the garden where you can enjoy Champagne* and canapes prior to an extravagant buffet highlighting the regional street food of India, featuring dishes such as Bhel, Pani Puri, Chana Chor Garam amongst many other delights, some of which will be finished in front of you by our team of skilled chefs.
Choose from a wide selection of wines or non-alcoholic beverages and the bar will be open late until midnight for you to indulge in a digestif or classic spirits before you retire to your room to reflect on your favourite moments of the day.
Saturday 2nd November
Prepare for your final day of celebrations with a hearty buffet breakfast consisting of traditional British and continental choices.
For those seeking relaxation, wander through our beautifully manicured gardens, unwind with a book by the roaring fireplace in the lounge, or enjoy some quality family time with traditional games like Trivia or Monopoly. For the more adventurous, the surrounding countryside offers a wealth of activities, from scenic hikes to leisurely bike rides, with many world-renowned historical attractions only a short drive away
This evenings grand celebrations will commence with a glass of Champagne Gosset* served with canapes before you are seated in our opulent Michelin-starred Cedar Tree restaurant for a lavish 7 course Black Tie Dinner, prepared and served by our award winning team. Each course will be paired with the perfect wines*, chosen especially by our sommelier. Your host for the evening, Hrishikesh Desai, will be honoured to explain the philosophy of each dish and delight you with his journey so far.
The evening will finish with a delicious choice of petit fours, including our signature Paan chocolate.
Sunday 3rd November
Enjoy a scrumptious buffet breakfast in the Cedar Tree restaurant before we wish you a fond farewell with cherished memories of this incredible experience, along with a surprise gift from the team.

Starting from £2290 per couple for the 3 night Package based on 2 people sharing.
For family groups, our Brookside House can accommodate 4 people maximum and would be priced at £5330 in total for the 3 night Package.
Alternatively, our stunning Coach House can accommodate up to 6 people maximum and would be priced at £7935 in total for the 3 night Package.
All drinks marked with * are included in the package price. Any additional beverages taken will be charged to your room bill to be settled prior to your departure.
Should you wish to extend your stay then you can take advantage of a 25% discount on our Bed & Breakfast rates but this must be booked in advance.

- DAY 1 - Afternoon Tea with Champagne cocktail on arrival, followed by cocktails and canapes then a Buffet Dinner of classic Indian dishes with a Cumbrian twist
- DAY 2 - Organised walk to a local beauty spot with hot drink and snack, light lunch on your return, a fireworks display with Champagne and canapes followed by an extravagant Buffet Dinner highlighting the regional street food of India
- DAY 3 - A black-tie dinner with Champagne and canapes reception, 7 course Tasting menu in our Michelin-starred restaurant, Cedar Tree by Hrishikesh Desai, with wine pairings for each course.
Terms and Conditions
A non-refundable deposit of £200 per room will be taken at time of booking.
A further payment equal to 40% will be automatically taken 60 days prior to arrival. This payment is refundable if your booking is cancelled more than 30 days prior to arrival.
The remaining balance will be taken 30 days prior to your arrival, at which point full cancellation terms apply and no refunds will be made in the event of cancellation.
